Catherine Delors wrote to us with a little note about the posting yesterday:
"The 19th century restoration work by Viollet-le-Duc has been questioned in terms of historical accuracy. It remains that Notre-Dame is probably, with the secular Eiffel Tower, the most beloved and beautiful of Paris monuments. This is one of the topics on which Parisians and tourists agree."
Thanks Catherine for the info.
I also reccomend her site "Versailles and more" as a source of great information on the history of France.
