I guess he could pass as a Frenchman as far as his accent is concerned, but he swears too much and he is too lowd to be true! Even the French can show some discretion in situations like this one ;)
We love this film but always wished they had used an actual french actor in the role. We also felt Jean Reno was wasted in this film. Hopefully most people will realize that Kevin Kline's performance is more of a charicature than a real portrayal.
